Headed up by James Fish, the team here at Bluefish Landscaping Contractors has years of experience and multiple BALI awards to our name.

Working alongside the country’s top garden designers, we specialise in bringing your vision to reality through professional and high-end landscape construction and garden maintenance.

Our founder

James Fish began his career working for one of the UK’s leading landscaping companies on various projects throughout the South East, some lasting up to 12 months.

James’ experience is varied and unique. He was involved in creating main show gardens at RHS Chelsea Flower Show and RHS Hampton Court Flower Show, and for a period of time James also featured alongside Alan Titchmarsh on ITV’s Love Your Garden.

In 2007, he set up Bluefish Landscaping Contractors which has become one of the preferred landscape contractor companies for Surrey, including in Weybridge and Guildford.

Our ethos

Great gardens require great creativity, along with attention to detail and meticulous craftsmanship.

We have a strong reputation for a high level of service, whilst still being approachable and reliable. With the design and build process sometimes taking place over a number of weeks or months, we develop long-term relationships with garden designers, landscape architects and end clients, all built on trust and shared passion.

As the gardens we build mature over time, we like to remain involved to ensure they are maintained and aligned to the long-term vision set out in the brief at the start of the project.

Our process

Our process begins with a complimentary pre-project advice service to understand your aims and ensure our values align. We can then work with you on a design and build basis. Alternatively we are able to recommend you to one of our preferred garden designers, or work with your chosen garden designer to plan your project.

On completion, our maintenance team will professionally maintain your garden to ensure it stays immaculate throughout every season.

Design & Planning

Many of our clients take advantage of our complementary pre-project advice service to understand your objectives for the space. All of our work requires a full professional design scheme and we’re happy to work with your own designer or recommend one of our preferred design studios. If using one of our preferred designers, we’ll match your vision and guidelines with the appropriate speciality, whether you’re transforming a rooftop garden in London or a country estate in the Surrey Hills.

Construction

With over eighteen years' experience, our competent management team co-ordinate a stable and skilled workforce to carry out full project construction. This team is capable of covering all kinds of complex on-site operations, from bespoke construction to mature tree planting.

Maintain

We offer a fully resourced, high-quality landscape and garden maintenance service to make sure the designer’s vision develops into the established garden they have planned. Our maintenance team are equipped to work on projects initially constructed by Bluefish, or across already established country estates.

We are grade II listed, with both the house and the gardens being completed in the vernacular style using elements from Lutyens and Jekyll. Getting traditional craftsmen who can produce work to such a high standard is not easy. I have had other works done on other parts of the property and whilst they are generally well done they do not meet with the exacting standards produced by BlueFish.

It is not easy to find contractors who have the traditional skills and who can build for the long term. I have had various people visit the garden to view elements of the garden design on behalf of the architect, and I would be happy to show the quality of the workmanship. It is impressive and the garden already looks like it was built years ago. It is beautiful and works well with the tile-hung house.
